We celebrate Independence day every July 4th, celebrating the "signing" of the Declaration Of Independence in 1776, but we rarely think about how many "DECADES" we had to continue to fight for it afterwards... these events were during the War of 1812.

Are Europeans a bunch of weenies or is it just you? This is normal for north American sports. Try stock car racing if you want to see brutal sport. We play hard. These men are modern day gladiators. Rugby and maybe polo might have similar physicality. Soccer is for weenies. Yes it can be physical but nothing like American football or hockey. Embrace the rage!!!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Most national anthems sing about how great a country is. The American National Anthem is about surviving the worst day in our history. The day before, the British burned Washington DC to the ground. The US government fled. Ft. McHenry was the only thing that protected Baltimore and the bulk of the US navy. The fort's guns could not reach the ships. The British ran out of shells. Where the story teller was wrong, was the end. The fort's commander had 2 flags. The battle flag flew all night, but at dawn he replaced it with his garrison flag that measured 30x42 feet. The original Star Spangled Banner can still been seen in the Smithsonian

I was at home (I was supposed to work a shift at the Olympic Store downtown, but I said I "had to get ready for school"), and I was a nervous wreck when the the US tied. I screamed so loud when Crosby scored the golden goal. When I went out to do quick errands, everyone was honking their horns, super thrilled that Canada won what is probably the most important gold medal to the country. Fun fact: both goalies in this game would go on to play for the same team. That same team plays on this rink. Yep, both Ryan Miller and Roberto Luongo played for the Vancouver Canucks. Luongo was already playing for the Canucks at the time of the Olympics, and Miller would join the team shortly after Luongo was traded out of the team in a cloud of controversy in 2014. Ryan Kesler on the US team was also playing for the Canucks at this time, as was the late Pavol Demitra for the Slovakian team, Sami Salo for the Finns, Christian Ehrhoff for Germany, and the Sedin twins (Daniel and Henrik) for Sweden. Mattias Öhlund (Sweden) also formerly played for the Canucks, so there were a handful of players who knew the rink very well (not to mention the other NHL players who would often come to Vancouver for a game).

I doubt you still monitor comments from this video at this point, but you ask for Ray Lewis stories and I have 2 quick ones for you: Firstly is that if you're a true Ravens fan and we're blessed enough to see him play in person like I did many times, then you know that Ray coming out the tunnel and doing that dance.. It resonated differently in person. Because 70,000 people ALL felt ever ounce of his emotion and passion when he did that dance. Every person in the stadium was ready to run through a wall for Ray. And many times if you looked around you, you'd see hard working blue collar men, with tears in their eyes, from how deeply his intensity, passion, and emotion would resonate. It was a truly incredible experience, every single time. For a more personal story, I remember going to a charity bowling event Ray sponsored and hosted, and he got a bunch of Ravens players to participate. So you'd bowl with a Raven, and you would most likely get a chance to meet Ray and get a quick photo, but it wasn't guaranteed. I was devastated that day because not only was I not going to meet Ray at the end, but the whole time I had been put in a lane with my school bullies (unbeknownst to the family friends that got me a spot at the event and took me). It was awful, getting so close to meeting my hero and having that experience not just taken away, but tainted entirely by the same kids that terrorized me daily. I was maybe 11 at the time, amd started to cry. Ray, on his way out, noticed me crying and made time to come over and talk to me. I told him everything and the incredible part is what he does next and what comes after: he talked to me about the responsibility of being a man, to never let another man make me feel that way, and to always stand up for myself. It was a message that really took, and I can honestly say I was never bullied after that day. But he also took the time to speak to my bullies, and gave all of us a speech about the responsibility of a man to be a leader, and that a leader would not only do everything in his power to help a fellow man at a time where he was feeling like I was that day, but to defend and protect anyone too weak to do it for themselves. This (believe it or not) is a very summarized version because he spent a solid 20 minutes talking to us, amd those kids not only stopped bullying me, not only became my friends, but on a couple occasions they fought with or for me to defend me. I won't give you stories about his play, because you can find a million of them on YT. He was the GOAT. I'll give you those two stories because what made him truly special was his ability to lead men, and be a role model and a hero for an entire city for 2 decades. Love you #52, greatest of all time.

This is the biggest load of crap. The US of A invaded Canada from Niagara Falls all the way to Quebec City and sacked York modern day Toronto and burned it to the ground the Canadians and the loyalists along with the British navy retaliated by sailing from Nova Scotia down to Washington while the land troops marched south they captured Washington chasing President Madison out the back door of what is now the White House. It was grey limestone at that moment. After capturing a high level US officer they left Washington DC and made their way up the Potomac to Baltimore and simply bombed Fort Henry all night. Francis Scott Keys yes went there with one other person to yes ask the release of the high ranking officer and was told come aboard they spoke the officer in question had surrendered his sword as they did in that time and was free to wander the deck now speaking with the two men knowing they could not leave until the morning tide would take the British ships back out to sea. Yes they bombed the Fort all night and the bombs burst in the air and the flag was still there. Now for the truth the agreement was the USA would not attack the British lines to the north and British would not come back. As for the White House it became white because after the British burned it the most common paint was white so they white washed the building and then it took another 20 years to fix the building and it was kept white there after. If you take a tour of the White House they will show the burned timber beams in the basement level. There no big ships full of prisoners the uUS troops simply fled to Virginia and the invasions to the north stopped. That’s why the border is where it is. The arguments went on while the US moved westward taking the wars to the Spanish that were an easier target. One final note the British built a fort in Kingston Ontario and called it Fort Henry. And not one US cannon ever dared fire on it. Since that time Canada and the US of A have been the best of friends. The country to the south of Canada is the United States. And every country from Baffin island in northern Canada all the way to Tiera Del Fuego the southern most part of South America is American There were no big British ships up the Potomac they were small fast moving and didn’t have many guns. And the music came from a British pub drinking song. The flag was not the battle flag. History is always one writers truth. To be proud let us learn the truth
